  The Purple Finch is a bird easily confused with the House Finch. The Purple Finch has little or no dark striping on its flanks, whereas the House Finch has pronounced dark striping on its flanks. The head, throat, and back of the Purple Finch are a beautiful blend of pinks and burgundy reds.
